A UNIQUE lunch created solely from Peninsula produce will fuel a celebration of women working in food, wine and agriculture.

The event, to be held on International Women’s Day on March 8, aims to inspire women in those industries to “press for progress”.

The Mornington Peninsula’s 100 Mile Foodie, Marlene Hoff said the lunch was a chance to support and encourage women working in fields still dominated by men.

“We want to empower women in our community, particularly younger women, to support each other and to keep pushing for equality,” Ms Hoff said.

The lunch will be hosted by Rye beef farmer Sally Matt at Hillock Downs and Ms Hoff will be joined in the kitchen by Pt Leo Estate sons chef Jemm Franks.

Ms Hoff will serve four courses created entirely from ingredients grown, bred or raised on the Peninsula.

“I am very passionate about Mornington Peninsula produce that is sustainable and ethical,” she said.

“I’ve been working on a menu sourced entirely from the region. Even the bread will be made using wheat grown in Tuerong.”

Angus/Frisian beef bred and raised at Hillock Downs will also be on the menu.

The dishes will be matched with wine from Crittenden Estate. The gathering will be intimate, with only 25 tickets available.
